SEARCH is pleased to announce that Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts has appointed Mr. Jeff Avey to serve as Nebraska’s representative to the SEARCH Membership Group.
The appointment was made April 14, 2022.
Mr. Avey is Director of the Criminal Identification Division of the Nebraska State Patrol. The Division is responsible for operating the centralized repository of criminal history records and fingerprints for Nebraska, fulfilling the State Patrol’s statutory responsibilities for maintaining, updating and disseminating criminal history records, issuing concealed carry and explosives permits, and providing public services (fingerprinting, training, and community outreach).
Mr. Avey fills a vacancy on the SEARCH Membership, and had served as a designated Alternate Member for Nebraska since 2018.
SEARCH welcomes Mr. Avey to the Membership Group.
The SEARCH Membership Group, the governing body of SEARCH, is comprised of one gubernatorial appointee from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the territories, as well as eight at-large appointees selected by SEARCH’s Chair. This national body of state-level professionals is widely representative of the various disciplines within the justice system, and many are responsible for operational decisions and policymaking concerning the management of criminal justice.
