Michigan State Police Official Appointed to SEARCH Membership

New title

SEARCH is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Michelle Kuzera to the SEARCH Membership Group. She was appointed by Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer on May 17, 2021.

Ms. Kuzera is Division Director of the Michigan State Police Criminal Justice Information Center (CJIC). The Center oversees the state’s criminal history records systems, firearms licensing system, sex offender registry, crime and traffic crash statistics programs, the state’s computerized law enforcement information network, and more.

Ms. Kuzera succeeds Ms. Dawn Brinningstaull, who recently retired as Director of the CJIC and who had served as Michigan’s governor appointee to SEARCH for 10 years.

SEARCH welcomes Ms. Kuzera to the SEARCH Membership and thanks Ms. Brinningstaull for her service.

The SEARCH Membership Group, the governing body of SEARCH, is comprised of one gubernatorial appointee from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the territories, as well as eight at-large appointees selected by SEARCH’s Chair. This national body of state-level professionals is widely representative of the various disciplines within the justice system, and many are responsible for operational decisions and policymaking concerning the management of criminal justice.
