BJS Releases FY24 NARIP Solicitation

New title

BJS is seeking applications for funding for the 2024 National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) Act Record Improvement Program (NARIP), which furthers the DOJ’s mission by enhancing the completeness, automation, and transmittal of records to state and federal systems used by the NICS. Eligible states and tribes may receive grant funding to improve the completeness, automation, and transmittal of records to state and federal systems. (Reference to “state” includes the District of Columbia and U.S. territories.)

JustGrants Application Deadline: 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on July 8, 2024

Eligibility: The following entities are eligible to apply:

  • State Government: Agencies designated by the Governor in each state to administer the National Criminal History Improvement Program (34 U.S.C. § 40301).
  • Federally recognized Native American tribal governments.
  • Courts: The state central administrative office or similar entity designated by statute or regulation to administer federal grant funds on behalf of the jurisdiction’s court system.

Anticipated Maximum Dollar Amount per Award: No maximum amount

Period of Performance Start Date: As early as October 1, 2024, to as late as January 1, 2025

Period of Performance Duration (Months): 12 to 24 months

Anticipated Total Amount To Be Awarded Under This Solicitation: $25,000,000
