On July 26–28, SEARCH Members, Staff, and stakeholders from federal, state and local agencies and national organizations met in Houston, Texas, for SEARCH’s 2016 Annual Membership Group Meeting. The agenda covered a range of technical, operational and policy issues affecting justice information sharing and criminal history record management.
The evening of July 26, Members, Staff, and Guests took a break to enjoy a reception at the Royal Sonesta Houston to recognize recipients of SEARCH’s annual awards:
the O.J. Hawkins Award, a practitioner honor that went to national criminal history record authority Owen Greenspan, SEARCH Law and Policy Director (ret.), and
the Cooper Meritorious Service Award, a Membership honor that went to Mr. Curtis Wood, Undersecretary for Forensic Science and Technology in the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, who was recognized for being a champion of public safety information sharing.
In addition, the SEARCH Chair recognized a number of SEARCH Members and Staff earlier in the day for years of service achieved in 2016.

Statement regarding the Coronavirus/COVID-19 Pandemic
Ongoing actions by federal, state, and local governments nationwide continue to advise citizens and businesses to sharply limit their activities in order to slow the spread of the Coronavirus and the COVID-19 disease. In light of current circumstances, SEARCH is taking these actions, which will affect our Members, staff, and operations:
Plans for SEARCH’s 2021 Annual Membership Group Meeting and Symposium on Justice Information Technology, Policy and Research, which will take place July 2021 in St. Louis, MO, are underway. Visit the 2021 Symposium website to submit workshop proposals and sign up to sponsor. We are monitoring the situation closely and will provide event updates as needed. Online Symposium registration will be available soon.
All SEARCH business staff travel will resume June 1, 2021.
All SEARCH staff have been authorized and encouraged to work from home through at least May 31, 2021; SEARCH will reopen its office June 1, 2021.
SEARCH is using a variety of tools that enable and support online meetings, training, technical assistance and conference/workshop presentations.
We are continuing to closely monitor the rapidly evolving nature of the Coronavirus and COVID-2019, and will continue to follow recommendations on prevention and spread of the virus by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
