Illinois State Police Captain is Appointed to the SEARCH Membership Group

New title

SEARCH is pleased to announce the appointment of Illinois State Police Captain James Rosanova to the SEARCH Membership.

Capt. Rosanova was appointed by Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker on October 14, 2022. He had been serving as the Designated Alternate for Illinois since January 2020 following the retirement of the state’s previous SEARCH Member, Capt. John Rattigan.

Capt. Rosanova is Chief of the Bureau of Identification for the Illinois State Police. As the state’s central repository for criminal records, the Bureau collects, maintains, and disseminates accurate, timely, and complete criminal history information. It maintains records relating to more than 5 million fingerprint files to help identify individuals and potential suspects through the use of the state’s Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS).

SEARCH Members and Staff are pleased to formally welcome Captain Rosanova to the Membership Group.

The SEARCH Membership Group, the governing body of SEARCH, is comprised of one gubernatorial appointee from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the territories, as well as eight at-large appointees selected by SEARCH’s Chair. This national body of state-level professionals is widely representative of the various disciplines within the justice system, and many are responsible for operational decisions and policymaking concerning the management of criminal justice.
