SEARCH Welcomes New Iowa Member
SEARCH welcomes a new governor appointee to its Membership Group, representing the State of Iowa: Mr. Mitchell Mortvedt, Assistant Director of the Iowa Department of Public Safety’s Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).
The DCI provides investigative support and expertise to law enforcement agencies across the state. Its four functional areas are the Criminalistics Laboratory, Field Operations Bureau (including major crime and cyber crime units), Special Enforcement Operations Bureau, and Support Operations Bureau (which includes criminal history record, fingerprint identification, and sex offender registry functions).
Mr. Mortvedt was appointed to SEARCH by Iowa Governor Terry Branstad effective September 7, 2016.The SEARCH Membership Group, which governs SEARCH, is comprised of one gubernatorial appointee from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the territories, as well as eight at-large appointees selected by SEARCH’s Chair. This national body of state-level professionals is widely representative of the various disciplines within the justice system, and many are responsible for operational decisions and policymaking concerning the management of criminal justice information, particularly criminal history information. The Membership Group fosters cooperation and communication among justice system professionals in identifying and implementing solutions to common problems.
