SEARCH Welcomes New Alabama Member
SEARCH is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Daniel Urquhart to the SEARCH Membership Group.
Mr. Urquhart is Deputy Director of the Information Bureau within the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA). He was appointed to SEARCH August 13, 2015, by Alabama Governor Robert Bentley.
ALEA is the Alabama state agency responsible all state level law enforcement within Alabama. As part of it mission, through the Information Bureau, it is responsible for gathering and providing critical information for law enforcement and the criminal justice community. ALEA operates a state-of-the-art data center 24 hours a day, providing many information systems through its state criminal justice network and the Internet.
Mr. Urquhart replaces Mr. Maury Mitchell as Alabama’s SEARCH representative. Mr. Mitchell had served as a SEARCH Member since December 2011.The SEARCH Membership Group, which governs SEARCH, is comprised of one gubernatorial appointee from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the territories, as well as eight at-large appointees selected by SEARCH’s Chair. This national body of state-level professionals is widely representative of the various disciplines within the justice system, and many are responsible for operational decisions and policymaking concerning the management of criminal justice information, particularly criminal history information. The Membership Group fosters cooperation and communication among justice system professionals in identifying and implementing solutions to common problems.
