SEARCH Holds Annual Meeting July 24–27 in Des Moines

SEARCH’s 2017 Annual Membership Meeting gets underway with a Board of Directors meeting Monday, July 24, while the Membership Group meets July 25 to 27 at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown in Des Moines, Iowa. Commissioner Roxann Ryan of the Iowa Department of Public Safety will give the host state welcome.

The event features speakers and sessions that will address a range of topics. These include:

  • Panelists representing state criminal history repositories will discuss using criminal history record audits and data quality assurance reviews to improve record quality
  • An update of the FBI’s “new-NICS” initiative, as well as other activities and issues relating to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System
  • A demonstration of computerized criminal history analytics tools
  • How practitioners in the medical, legal, law enforcement, victim services and advocacy fields can protect themselves in a digital world
  • An overview of how law enforcement is using analytics to forecast criminal activity
  • Improvements in automated fingerprint identification systems
  • A Government Affairs briefing

In addition, the Annual Meeting will feature elections of the SEARCH Board of Directors, and presentation of the 2017 O.J. Hawkins and Meritorious Service Awards—this year’s honorees are Mr. Billy Clinton, Arkansas Crime Information Center, and Mr. Bradley Truitt, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
