What is outreach training?
SEARCH, under a grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance, U.S. Department of Justice, provides our training courses on-site to criminal justice agencies throughout the United States. SEARCH will provide two trainers, a legal expert and the training materials at no charge to criminal justice agencies wishing to host a computer crime training course.
How can our agency obtain computer crime training at our site?
Call Diane Chin at (916)392-2550, ext. 244 to reserve a date for the course. Once arrangements are made, your agency as the "host agency" is responsible for the following:
a) Supplying a computer laboratory site subject to setup requirements for the course being offered; the site must accommodate a minimum of 20 students (computers, seating, etc.).
b) Providing classroom equipment, including an overhead projector, 8-foot-wide screen, white marker board, and table space for training materials.
c) Sending out training announcements to criminal justice agencies in your local area.
What type of a computer laboratory do we need to set up for training at our site?
The host agency must set up an MS-DOS-based microcomputer laboratory. The microcomputers must have a minimum of 1.2gb hard disk drives and must be equipped with 1.44md 3.5-inch floppy drives. SVGA color monitors is a minimum.
What type of a training announcement can we use to advertise the training at our site?
SEARCH can provide a draft of an announcement for your agency. You can modify it as needed, and distribute it.
How do I register for your Sacramento courses?
You must complete a registration form and submit it to SEARCH along with a check or purchase order. You can download individual Course Outlines/Registration Forms from our Web page.
Can I reserve a slot until my agency completes the paperwork?
No, we must have the completed paperwork in order to give you an available slot. However, we will accept a faxed registration form that includes a purchase order form.
Does SEARCH accept credit cards for training courses?
Yes, SEARCH accepts VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express cards.
What is your refund policy?
The registration fee is nonrefundable if you cancel within 14 days of the start of training. However, if you are unable to attend, you may send a substitute. Contact Diane Chin at (916)392-2550, ext. 244, if you need to cancel before the cut-off date or if you need to send a substitute.
