Major Brandon F. Gray

Governor Chris Christie appointed Major Brandon Gray to serve as New Jersey’s representative on the SEARCH Membership Group, effective November 19, 2015.

Major Gray is Commanding Officer of the Identification & Information Technology Section, New Jersey State Police. The section provides technological services to the law enforcement community statewide, ranging from developing and implementing state-of-the-art applications, to electronic publication of crime statistics, to using mapping to identify high crime areas. The section is comprised of the Criminal Justice Records Bureau, Information Technology Bureau and State Bureau of Identification.

Major replaces NJSP Captain Ron Rivera as New Jersey’s SEARCH Member. Capt. Rivera had served on the SEARCH Membership since October 2012.

The SEARCH Membership Group, which governs SEARCH, is comprised of one gubernatorial appointee from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the territories, as well as eight at-large appointees selected by SEARCH’s Chair. This national body of state-level professionals is widely representative of the various disciplines within the justice system, and many are responsible for operational decisions and policymaking concerning the management of criminal justice information, particularly criminal history information. The Membership Group fosters cooperation and communication among justice system professionals in identifying and implementing solutions to common problems.
