Iowa Governor Appoints DPS Official to SEARCH Membership
Iowa Governor Terry E. Branstad appointed Mr. David Jobes to serve as Iowa’s representative on the SEARCH Membership Group, effective March 2, 2017.
Mr. Jobes is Assistant Director of the Iowa Department of Public Safety (DPS), Division of Criminal Investigation. The division includes the Criminalistics Laboratory and three bureaus: Field Operations (major crimes, missing persons, cybercrime), Special Enforcement Operations (gaming), and Support Operations (criminal history records, sex offender registry, etc.).
Mr. Jobes previously served as Iowa’s SEARCH Member from 2011 to 2014, and also served on our Board of Directors. He replaces Mr. Mitchell Mortvedt as Iowa’s SEARCH appointee.The SEARCH Membership Group, which governs SEARCH, is comprised of one gubernatorial appointee from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the territories, as well as eight at-large appointees selected by SEARCH’s Chair. This national body of state-level professionals is widely representative of the various disciplines within the justice system, and many are responsible for operational decisions and policymaking concerning the management of criminal justice information, particularly criminal history information. The Membership Group fosters cooperation and communication among justice system professionals in identifying and implementing solutions to common problems.
