Basic Computer Skills for Law Enforcement

basic-computerThe purpose of this course is to ensure that you are sufficiently prepared to attend computer investigation classes that are offered by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program (ICAC), the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C), and SEARCH, The National Consortium for Justice Information and Statistics. This course will guide you through the basic computer skills necessary for successful attendance at future computer crime training classes. This is not a computer forensic course.

  • GUI Desktop Navigation
  • Basic File Systems
  • Open/Saving Files
  • File System Manipulation
  • Program Installation 

Audience: All investigators planning to attend advanced onsite computer investigation courses through SEARCH, the National White Collar Crime Center, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program
Prerequisites: Law enforcement affiliation
Length: Self-paced
Difficulty: Basic
