Mobile Device Investigations

Cell Phone Systems, Seizure, and Considerations: This block provides students with an understanding of basic cell phone investigation terminology and phone seizure. Students are given resources to assist in extracting data from cellular devices.

Cell Phone Systems, Seizure, and Considerations, plus CelleBrite Universal Forensics Extraction Device (UFED) Standard Kit: This block provides students with an understanding of basic cell phone investigation terminology and phone seizure. Students are given resources to assist in extracting data from cellular devices. In addition, students use the CelleBrite UFED Standard Kit to extract data from cellular devices. The CelleBrite UFED is a standalone device that can be used in the field or in a lab environment. Using this tool, students can extract data from GSM and CDMA phones, including smartphones, as well as from SIM cards. Students learn how to keep the CelleBrite device updated and perform hands-on extraction exercises and real-world troubleshooting scenarios.

Cell Phone Systems, Seizure, and Considerations, plus Susteen’s DataPilot SecureView: This block provides students with an understanding of basic cell phone investigation terminology and phone seizure. Students are given resources to assist in extracting data from cellular devices. In addition, students are trained in cell phone data extraction using Susteen’s DataPilot SecureView. Both the cabling and software for this tool are discussed and students perform hands-on data extraction exercises and real-world troubleshooting scenarios.

Cell Phone Systems, Seizure, and Considerations, plus BitPim: This block provides students with an understanding of basic cell phone investigation terminology and phone seizure. Students are given resources to assist in extracting data from cellular devices. In addition, students are trained in cell phone data extraction using BitPim, a free tool used for both physical and logical non-smartphone CDMA cell phone extraction. Both the cabling and software for this tool are discussed and students perform hands-on data extraction exercises and real-world troubleshooting scenarios.

Cell Phone Systems, Seizure, and Considerations, plus Paraben’s Device Seizure: This block provides students with an understanding of basic cell phone investigation terminology and phone seizure. Students are given resources to assist in extracting data from cellular devices. In addition, students are trained in cell phone data extraction using Paraben’s Device Seizure. Both the cabling and software for this tool are discussed and students perform hands-on data extraction exercises and real-world troubleshooting scenarios.

Introduction to Mobile Device Data Recovery: This workshop, designed for beginners, introduces students to cellular devices and discusses the various impacts they have on investigations.  Students learn basic terminology and are introduced to a cadre of resources and tools to use during mobile device data recovery.  Considerations for mobile device seizure are discussed in depth.  Students are specifically introduced to using CelleBrite UFED Logical, then complete a hands-on exercise using CelleBrite as a field tool to extract data from cellular devices.
