How it Should Work: Tech Overview and Definitions
A presentation and video will show attendees a fully integrated suite of law enforcement information technology (IT) applications and how they should work together.
10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
Technology Challenges and 10 Critical Success Factors
This session discusses the factors that make technology planning, procurement and implementation unique and explores some of the difficulties commonly encountered by agencies, drawing on real case studies. This session will explore the 10 critical success factors for IT initiatives, including developing effective strategies for dealing with project governance, human resources, scope, time, quality, cost, communications, risk, procurement and integration.

Project Scorecards
It's time to hear from the participants! In this fast-paced session, attendees will identify critical success and failure points from their own experiences with implementing technology.

During this time frame, attendees will learn the appropriate management techniques for their technology earmarks, how to maintain grant filing systems and preparing financial status reports.

Peer Networking
Attendees can meet in groups to network and discuss common issues, experiences, problems and resolution. This informal and optional session has been a valuable means to develop strong peer relationships among agencies procuring the same types of technologies or facing similar project challenges.

This primer session will introduce attendees to the basics of procuring technology.

Contract Development
This insightful session will build upon the basics of the previous session by demonstrating how a solid procurement process can lead to a successful contract development process. Our speakers will discuss the intricacies of negotiating a most-favorable agreement.

Conducting a Fit and Gap Process
To aid in the development of a strong vendor relationship, a stable contract is vital. But, sometimes, a good proposal and subsequent agreement aren't enough!

Preparing the Organization for Change
Did you know that most law enforcement agencies think of changing technology as "just changing a burned-out light bulb"? This session will help agencies harness the power of the technology they are introducing.

Strategic Plan Preparation
As a conclusion to the conference, our team of project management professionals will instruct attendees on the creation of a project plan framework, using a PMI standard project plan, and the Law Enforcement Tech Guide, as the base.

Concluding Luncheon: Direct Technical Assistance
As we conclude the conference, SEARCH and COPS staff will be available to assist agencies with specific concerns or needs.
