Justice Sandbox
A case study of a successful state and local
integrated justice system projects using an interoperable infrastructure and an enterprise architecture. A new common repository with arrest, criminal history, identification, court, bail, disposition, erasure, correction, probation, protective order, and parole events will be demonstrated in the cross-agency Offender Based Tracking System with its real-time inquiry and ad-hoc reporting functions. The Paperless Re-Arrest Warrant Network will show interoperability via a single-sign portal.

Case Study 2: Nebraska: A Collaborative Approach to Integration
This case study will discuss Nebraska’s approach to integration among state and local agencies. A cooperative approach has focused on improving agency automation while always targeting data sharing. Standardizing court automation and local records systems have not only improved data quality but have allowed easier integration with DMV, AFIS, criminal history and other systems. The session will include a demonstration of NCJIS, an Internet-based data portal providing access for state, local and federal law enforcement to a variety of data and services, including criminal histories, jail holds, probationers, corrections, DMV, mugshots, court data, subscriptions and local case information.

Federal and State Justice and Homeland Security Integration Initiatives
Integrated justice information from all levels is the cornerstone for improved justice and public safety nationwide-and the foundation for protecting the homeland. Learn about the Law Enforcement Information System (LEIS), designed to become a powerful tool for criminal investigation and preventing crime that will integrate multiple federal data sources. LEIS planning relies on a Concept of Operations (CONOPS) document to ensure that appropriate issues are being addressed. Hear how Illinois has developed a CONOPS for public safety and homeland security. This state will demonstrate how information and communication deficiencies that exist today were identified, and identify future functions, the range of information exchanges, and interactions needed among public safety, first responders and private partners to prevent and respond to a homeland security event. The nexus of justice and homeland security is demonstrated with these two exciting projects.
