How it Should Work: Tech Overview and Definitions
A presentation and video will show attendees a fully integrated suite of law enforcement information technology (IT) applications and how they should work together. The presentation will demonstrate technologies that are available today that support law enforcement functions beginning with a 911 call, to dispatch, to the officer using mobile technologies in the field to query systems, prepare and submit a report, to crime analysts and command staff using the information for strategic and tactical responses, as well as examples of the use of these technologies in community and neighborhood outreach.

Technology Challenges and 10 Critical Success Factors
This session discusses the factors that make technology planning, procurement and implementation unique and explores some of the difficulties commonly encountered by agencies, drawing on real case studies. This session will explore the 10 critical success factors for IT initiatives, including developing effective strategies for dealing with project governance, human resources, scope, time, quality, cost, communications, risk, procurement and integration.

Agency Breakout Sessions.
Law enforcement agencies undertaking information technology projects often have unique challenges based on their size (number of sworn and population served) and resources in terms of funding and staffing. Breakout sessions by agency size will be facilitated by Conference faculty and are designed to illicit common challenges, obstacles, issues, lessons learned, and successful strategies for technology implementation from both attendees and facilitators.

Peer Networking
This session allows attendees to convene in groups to network and discuss common issues, experiences, problems and resolution. This informal and optional session has been a valuable means to develop strong peer relationships among agencies procuring the same types of technologies or facing similar project challenges. Unlike the breakout sessions, this session allows the group to meet as a whole, but divide in a variety of ways; by technology project, agency size, common issues, and/or those using common vendors.
