Major Timothy McGrail Appointed to Represent Missouri on SEARCH Membership Group

On March 7, 2013, Missouri Governor Jay Nixon appointed Major Timothy P. McGrail to serve as Missouri's representative on the SEARCH Membership Group.

Major McGrail is Commander of the Technical Services Bureau of the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), and has direct oversight responsibility for the Criminal Justice Information Services, Information and Communication Technology, Traffic Records, and Research and Development divisions. He has been with the MSHP since 1984.

Major McGrail replaces Sandy Karsten as Missouri's SEARCH representative. She was recently promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel and named assistant superintendent of the MSHP.

The SEARCH Membership Group, which governs SEARCH, is comprised of one gubernatorial appointee from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the territories, as well as eight at-large appointees selected by SEARCH's Chair. This national body of state-level professionals is widely representative of the various disciplines within the justice system, and many are responsible for operational decisions and policymaking concerning the management of criminal justice information, particularly criminal history information. The Membership Group fosters cooperation and communication among justice system professionals in identifying and implementing solutions to common problems.
