SEARCH Announces Identity Theft Webpage
The SEARCH Website has unveiled a page devoted to the perils of identity theft. The Webpage at www.search.org/programs/policy/identity.asp examines traditional forms of identity theft that involve financial issues but also looks at the growing threat of criminal identity theft, which occurs when an identity thief provides his or her victim's name to law enforcement officers when arrested. The victim is often left with an unwarranted criminal record that may prevent him or her from obtaining employment, housing and other goods and services.
"This Webpage provides links to informative documents and other useful online resources. We hope you'll visit the SEARCH Identity Theft Webpage and let us know your thoughts and comments on this new resource," said SEARCH Justice Information Services Specialist Eric Johnson.
