SEARCH Welcomes New Staff


Two new staff members have recently joined SEARCH, and will be working in the Sacramento office.

Steven L. Bolt
Mr. Steven L. Bolt is a Computer Training Specialist in the Training Services unit of SEARCH, The National Consortium for Justice Information and Statistics, where he coordinates and provides training on computer technology issues with criminal justice applications to local, state and federal justice agencies. The training is provided at SEARCH's National Criminal Justice Computer Laboratory and Training Center in Sacramento, California, as well as at other sites nationwide.

Before joining SEARCH in 2006, Mr. Bolt was Senior Deputy Probation Officer for the Sacramento County (California) Probation Department, where he was forensics consultant to high profile crime units and handled utilization of new technologies for tactical planning. He was also responsible for armed field supervision of probationers. In his eight years with the Probation Department, Mr. Bolt was responsible for coordinating differing technologies in multi-vendor environments, providing training to fellow law enforcement officers, and performing security audits on local and state criminal databases, among other duties.

For six years, Mr. Bolt has been an independent computer crime consultant and trainer, providing expertise in digital evidence gathering and preservation and online support of criminal investigations. As a forensics intern for the Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force (a unit of the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department Hi-Tech Crimes Division), he handled identity theft investigations and cloning of digital media in support of digital investigations.

Mr. Bolt has bachelor's degrees in Criminal Justice and Biological Science from California State University, Sacramento, and master's certificates in Computer Forensics and Information Security from the University of New Haven. He also has a master's degree in National Security and Public Safety with a concentration in Information Protection from the University of New Haven. Mr. Bolt's Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification is pending.

Carol Keane
Ms. Carol Keane is an Administrative Assistant for SEARCH, The National Consortium for Justice Information and Statistics, where she provides administrative and program support to the Training Services unit, including preparing and maintaining files, correspondence, program materials and applications to relevant agencies, organizations and individuals, and assisting with conference and symposia preparation.

Before joining SEARCH, Ms. Keane was an Executive Assistant for Sun Microsystems, Inc., in Menlo Park, California, where she provided a wide range of advanced level administrative functions in support of a geographically dispersed staff. As Revenue Administrator for Vision Service Plan in Rancho Cordova, California, Ms. Keane handled services for both internal and external customers.

Ms. Keane also held various positions in her 20-year tenure with IBM Corporation, including Customer Support Professional, Professional Services Administrator and Senior Customer Service Representative. She has won numerous awards for exceptional service throughout her career. Ms. Keane has a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University in Tempe.
