David Lewis Visits SEARCH Headquarters

Mr. David Lewis, Senior Policy Advisor, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), U.S. Department of Justice visited the SEARCH headquarters in Sacramento March 10-11. Mr. Lewis participated in Programs and staff meetings, and attended a dinner to celebrate the anniversary of SEARCH's incorporation as a nonprofit organization in March 1974.

In an address to SEARCH staff, Mr. Lewis spoke about the strong collaborative relationship between BJA and SEARCH, and outlined BJA's role, as defined by Mr. Domingo Herraiz, Director of BJA. "We want to change the way we do business, and operate more as a facilitator and not simply as a funding source," noted Mr. Lewis.

Mr. Lewis thanked SEARCH for its valuable contributions to the justice community. He also mentioned that it is critical to document performance measures-particularly by ensuring that state and local justice agencies are directly benefiting from SEARCH products and services.
