SEARCH, The National Consortium for Justice Information and Statistics, is seeking an experienced applicant to join its staff as a High-Tech Crime Training Specialist.

Job Overview
The High-Tech Crime Training Specialist serves as a staff instructor for the High-Tech Crime Training Services program at SEARCH, and is responsible for developing SEARCH training lesson plans, seminars, and conferences both locally and through outreach programs across the United States and its territories. The position is under the direction of the Director of High-Tech Crime Training Services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
A partial list of this position's duties and responsibilities include:
  • Responsible for classroom instruction, student supervision, and professional development (e.g., instruction to law enforcement professionals on how to investigate technology-oriented crimes).
  • Researches technology trends via list serves and other sources.
  • Responsible for creating and writing training programs, including activities related to local and outreach training, training development, and training programs with other criminal justice agencies nationally.
  • Provides input to the Director on issues affecting training on criminal justice information systems.
  • Provides training and technical assistance to criminal justice agencies, as directed by the Director.
  • Provides training and technical support to other SEARCH programs as needed.
  • Responsible for preparing student activities and providing student materials for training courses and conference sessions.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the Director, Deputy Executive Director, or Executive Director.

Required Education and Experience
  • A bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Forensics, Computer Science, or Education. Six years of related experience is recommended in Criminal Justice, Forensics, Computer Science, or Education.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system operation and of information systems technologies.
  • Key candidate capabilities include:
    • Knowledge of modern instructional techniques.
    • Strong abilities in curriculum development and modern instructional methods.
    • Ability to work independently and make the most effective use of skills and training.
    • Ability to work effectively with corporate staff and officials, and others with whom the corporation is directly or indirectly related.
    • Strong public speaking ability.
    • Knowledge of microcomputer operation and competent skills in common software application programs, such as the Microsoft Office suite of products. Good typing skills.
  • The High-Tech Crime Training Specialist must have a combination of formal education or field experience which demonstrate a high degree of knowledge of the criminal justice system operation; new and emerging computer technology, networks, and computer forensics; and modern instructional techniques and methods.

Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
A current driver's license and proof of auto insurance are required. All computer and instructor certifications should be noted in the résumé.

Compensation
TThe monthly salary range starts at $5909. SEARCH offers an excellent benefits package including retirement, health, dental, disability, vacation, and sick leave. Successful completion of a background check is required.

This is a full-time exempt position. The corporate office is located in Sacramento, California.
