Robert Wessels, National Leader in Court Management and Information Sharing, Selected for SEARCH’s 2013 Cooper Award

Mr. Robert Wessels, Vice Chair of the Texas Judicial Committee on Information Technology, will receive SEARCH’s top Membership honor—the 2013 Gary R. Cooper Meritorious Service Award.

The SEARCH Board of Directors selected Mr. Wessels for this honor during their January 2013 Winter Meeting in Portland, Oregon. The Cooper Award is one of three national awards SEARCH presents each year, and recognizes a SEARCH Member’s outstanding work in the field of criminal justice information systems, policy or statistics, and on behalf of SEARCH.

SEARCH Board Selects Retired Executive Director Ron Hawley for 2013 O.J. Hawkins Award

The SEARCH Board of Directors is pleased to announce the selection of retired SEARCH Executive Director Ronald P. Hawley for the 2013 O.J. Hawkins Award for Innovative Leadership and Outstanding Contributions in Criminal Justice Information Systems, Policy and Statistics—SEARCH’s highest practitioner honor.

Mr. Hawley, who retired in January 2013 after nearly 10 years as SEARCH Executive Director, is being honored for dedicating his entire 40-year career to the field of criminal justice. In particular, he is recognized for actively supporting and enabling justice information sharing at the state and national levels and for his efforts to ensure SEARCH remains a pivotal player in the justice community.

Montana Governor Appoints Eleanor Cooperider to SEARCH Membership

Montana Governor Steve Bullock has appointed Ms.Eleanor Cooperider to be the state’s representative on the SEARCH Membership Group, effective April 5, 2013. Ms. Cooperider works within the Montana Department of Justice as the Business Operations Supervisor of the Criminal Records and Identification Services Section. 

Ms. Cooperider has been serving as Montana’s Interim Representative on the Membership Group since 2009, when the position was vacated by Mr. William Griffenberg.

The Criminal Records and Identification Services Section resides under the large umbrella of the Investigative Support Bureau.

Major Timothy McGrail Appointed to Represent Missouri on SEARCH Membership Group

On March 7, 2013, Missouri Governor Jay Nixonappointed Major Timothy P. McGrail to serve as Missouri’s representative on the SEARCH Membership Group.

Major McGrail is Commander of the Technical Services Bureau of the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), and has direct oversight responsibility for the Criminal Justice Information Services, Information and Communication Technology, Traffic Records, and Research and Development divisions. He has been with the MSHP since 1984.

Major McGrail replaces Sandy Karsten as Missouri’s SEARCH representative.
